Ann Sarnoff is president of Dow Jones Ventures and senior vice president for strategy for Dow Jones & Company.
She is responsible for strategy and corporate development across Dow Jones, which includes key brands such as The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Newswires, Dow Jones Factiva, Barron’s and MarketWatch around the world.
Ms. Sarnoff also is charged with leveraging Dow Jones’s strong brands and assets to create new businesses. She recently oversaw the launch of FINS.com as well as three new executive conference franchises—ECO:nomics, The Wall Street Journal CEO Council and The Wall Street Journal Future of Finance Initiative—and the Viewpoints breakfast series. She is responsible for Dow Jones conferences such as Private Equity Analyst and VentureWire, as well as the Journal commerce businesses—WSJwine and WSJtravel and WSJstore. In addition, Ms. Sarnoff oversees the print and online classified businesses of the Journal.
Before Dow Jones, Ms. Sarnoff was the chief operating officer for the WNBA where she was responsible for the league’s business operations as well as player personnel and programs.
Prior to the WNBA, Ms. Sarnoff spent 10 years at Viacom, rising to be chief operating officer for VH1 and CMT: Country Music Television. In addition to strategic planning and business operations, her duties included overseeing the digital channels and Web sites, as well as radio, audio and video products. At Nickelodeon, she developed Rugrats and Blues Clues into large and successful merchandising properties as executive vice president, consumer products and business development. Ms. Sarnoff also led the teams that developed two new channels for Nickelodeon, TV Land and Noggin.
Prior to Nickelodeon, Ms. Sarnoff was director of corporate development for Viacom, where she helped with the acquisition and integration of Paramount Communications. From 1987-1993, Ms. Sarnoff was a strategy consultant at Marakon Associates in Stamford, Conn.
She is a graduate of Georgetown University and has an MBA from Harvard.
