Christine Brendle is the Managing Director of Dow Jones in Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, she leads the strategic development of Dow Jones throughout the region. In Asia Pacific, Dow Jones publishes The Wall Street Journal Asia, operates Dow Jones Newswires, Dow Jones Factiva and several localized Web sites, including asia.WSJ.com, Chinese-language cn.WSJ.com and Japanese-language jp.WSJ.com. Ms. Brendle joined Dow Jones in February 2006, following a 17-year career with the Hachette Filipacchi publishing group in Asia, the U.S. and Europe. From 1995 to 2001, Ms. Brendle served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Hachette Filipacchi Asia Pacific and from 1993 to 1995 served as Vice President, Asia Pacific, and Managing Director, Hong Kong and China. Ms. Brendle also served in a number of other roles for Hachette Filipacchi: from 1991 to 1993 for Hachette Filipacchi Japan and Time Hachette Japan; from 1988 to 1991 for ELLE Publishing and Hachette Publications Inc. in New York; and from 1984 to 1988 for Hachette Filipacchi Presse S.A. in France. Prior to joining the Journal, Ms. Brendle spent several years as a media-industry consultant and publishing entrepreneur. In 2004, she and her partners launched Daily7 and Daily10, two daily English-language newspapers for children. Ms. Brendle also serves as a foreign trade adviser to the French Trade Commission, a role she has enjoyed since 2000. Ms. Brendle received an M.B.A. from the Graduate School of Business Administration of Columbia University in New York, and a diploma from ESSEC (Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales) in France. | |
