Scott D. Schulman is president of the Corporate Markets Group of Dow Jones & Company where he leads core brands such as Factiva and other innovative information products serving the needs of business professionals and corporations.
The Dow Jones Corporate Markets Group provides authoritative content and advanced tools to inform business decisions. The group builds and sells solutions in areas such as enterprise research, professional services, public relations, corporate communications, sales, marketing, compliance and procurement, drawing on all of Dow Jones’s content and technology assets. Mr. Schulman is responsible for all aspects of the Corporate Markets products and their development as well as strategy and financial performance.
Before taking on this role in January 2010, Mr. Schulman was president of Dow Jones Financial Information Services and its market-leading products in private equity, risk and compliance, venture capital, bankruptcy and debt, energy, commodities, foreign trade and other areas. Between 2005 and 2006, he served as chief strategy officer at Dow Jones where he led corporate strategy efforts and major growth initiatives across all sectors of the company. He also served as senior vice president, global sales and marketing of The Wall Street Journal franchise for two years beginning in 2004. In that role he was responsible for the Journal's global advertising sales, marketing, business development, research and ad services operations.
Mr. Schulman was president of Dow Jones Consumer Electronic Publishing from 2001 to 2003. This operating group included Internet businesses such as WSJ.com and other electronic properties serving the needs of businesspeople, investors, financial professionals and consumers.
He joined Dow Jones in 1999 as vice president of strategic planning and development for the company. While in that role, he added additional responsibility as vice president of Dow Jones Interactive Publishing for initiatives such as real estate, recruitment and small business.
Before joining Dow Jones, Mr. Schulman was a partner in the Communications, Media and Technology practice at Booz Allen Hamilton in New York. During his 10 years at Booz Allen, he led work in areas such as online/Internet services, electronic and print business information, newspapers, magazines, television, entertainment, education and direct marketing. From 1984 to 1986, he was a research analyst and associate consultant for Bain & Company in Boston.
His community involvement includes serving on the board of directors of the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, a not-for-profit organization that is the largest and longest-running recognition program for the visual arts and writing in the U.S. He also serves on the board of American Business Media, the industry association of business information providers, and previously served on the boards of the Ad Council, the American Advertising Federation, the Council of Better Business Bureaus, SmartMoney and the Duke Student Publishing Company.
He received a bachelor of science degree from Duke University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
