Dow Jones Names Bethany Sherman Chief Communications Officer

 

NEW YORK (March 3, 2010) – Dow Jones & Company announced today the appointment of Bethany B. Sherman as chief communications officer.

Ms. Sherman will be responsible for all aspects of communications strategy for the global news and business information company, including public relations, media relations and internal communications.

Ms. Sherman will report to Dow Jones Chief Executive Officer Les Hinton. Her appointment is effective March 29.

“The story of Dow Jones at the vanguard of the news business in the digital age is only beginning to be told. Bethany will play a key role in communicating our initiatives and successes as we invest in and improve core products such as The Wall Street Journal,” Mr. Hinton said. 

Ms. Sherman will join Dow Jones from The Nasdaq OMX Group, Inc. where she was senior vice president for corporate communications over the past eight years. At Nasdaq, she led the exchange’s global communications and reputation management initiatives, including the OMX acquisition and other major events and programs.

Before Nasdaq, Ms. Sherman was a principal and chief client services officer for Middleberg Euro RSCG, a New York City public relations firm. She is a member of the steering committee for the Association for a Better New York and a graduate of Boston College.
